The region is home to some of the exotic species of birds and animals like Madagascar pond heron, lesser flamingo, lesser kestrel, shoebill, the African lion, wild elephant, Cape buffalo, gazelle, olive baboon, leopard, wild dogs, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and impala, etc. Some of the popular, thrilling activities across the park that keep the tourists captivated include bird watching, trekking across the park, watching wildlife and of course, wildlife photography.
To provide tourists with proper eating and lodging facilities inside the park, a number of commercial accommodations have come up. These joints are wrapped with adequate urban facilities and suit every category of tourists. The Kibo safari camp is one of the most popular lodging options that are there inside the reserve jungle.
The camp is just 15 km away from the airstrip and is exactly a 5-minute drive from the gates of the park. In addition to plenty of enticing facilities that it offers, the spectacular view of the majestic peaks of Mt Kilimanjaro deserves especial mentioning. The camp hosts an open-air restaurant that serves exotic dishes.
